All the King's Men

Janet was the textile artist for All the King's Men, a film by AKM Productions and Sony, starring Sean Penn, Jude Law, Kate Winslett, Anthony Hopkins, James Gandolfini and Frederick Forest.  This film should be in theaters in 2006.

Clothes dyed/aged to show the poverty of the area.

To avoid a continuous denim blue color in the frame as Willie Stark campaigns among the Louisiana working classes, every pair of jeans, overalls, and coveralls were overdyed.  In addition, denim work coats and hats, as well as chambray shirts, were overdyed to break up a possible sea of blue.  The clothing pieces were then aged and distressed.

The brighter colors in the women's clothing were also taken down to add to the 'sadness' of the background extras.  Clothing pieces included dresses, sweaters, skirts and purses.

Many of the fabric's used to build costumes for the film were custom dyed: silks, velvets, wools and linens.
